About the Artist

As an artist, I strive to create beautiful, aesthetically pleasing designs that offer a blend of simple and harmonious designs. My art background encompasses all types of mediums: ceramics, painting, drawing, printmaking and graphic design.

Following fine art school and years of working as a marketing professional, I returned to school to pursue my passion for art and design. I am living my dream of being a full time artist, focusing on my creativity and passion for all mediums of art. My main profession is a freelance graphic designer and in my spare time I work in my backyard pottery studio making
functional, wheel-thrown pottery.

My clay experience includes working in a professional Raku studio and teaching ceramics classes for a variety of audiences – ranging from preschool to college. I enjoy the therapeutic and majestic qualities of transforming a ball of clay into a useful object. My pottery is mainly wheel-thrown, functional kitchenware – meant to be used and well-loved. Each piece adds an extra touch of beauty while preparing your food, drinking your morning cup of coffee or scooping an evening bowl of ice cream. My inspiration comes from artisan craftsmen – working with their hands to make/create beautiful objects for daily use.     -   Melissa B.
